Frantisek Cermak

Frantisek Cermak
September 5th, 1822 - May 4th, 1884
Born in 1822 in Prague, Cermak was best known for his role as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague. Previously, Cermak was also a student of this Academy between 1837 - 1842. A professor of both Joža Uprka and Luděk Marold, to mention a few of his distinguished students, Cermak was heavily influenced by French/Belgian historical and academic painting. He produced numerous canvases with the intention to revive interest in Czech history.
